Danish renewable-energy company Orsted AS said Friday that it will build a large-scale solar project in Texas, U.S.

The 471 megawatt Mockingbird Solar Center will cover an area of around 20 square kilometers and will be able to generate enough energy to power more than 80,000 homes annually, it said.

Orsted said it has taken the final investment decision on the project and will start construction this month, with completion expected in 2024.

Orsted signed a ten-year corporate power purchase agreement with Royal DSM NV in 2021 and the Dutch nutrition-and-materials group will be purchasing a share of the power from Mockingbird.
