GEORG PÃ-LZL REAPPOINTED AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF AUSTRIAN POST

CONTINUITY AND RESOLUTE CONTINUATION OF BUSINESS STRATEGY.

At its regular meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Austrian Post reappointed Georg Pölzl to serve as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Austrian Post. Mr. Pölzl’s current term of office, which expires on October 1, 2014, will be extended for a three-year period, with a subsequent extension option on his employment contract for a further two years.  

“Today’s decision by the Supervisory Board is the logical consequence of the outstanding performance of the company in recent years, both with respect to the capital market as well as its further structural developmentâ€, says Rudolf Kemler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Austrian Post. “In cooperation with the management, Georg Pölzl has managed to transform Austrian Post into a modern and customer-friendly service provider. His reappointment is thus a clear signal of continuity and a focus on the consistent continuation of the company’s successful business strategy. The Supervisory Board is convinced that Georg Pölzl will continue to successfully master the challenges posed by the constantly changing postal market.â€

Georg Pölzl
Georg Pölzl was born in 1957. He earned his Ph.D at the Leoben University of Mining. He started his professional career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. He then joined the board of Binder & Co AG, a machinery and processing plant construction company. Subsequently, Mr. Pölzl was the head of T-Mobile Austria in Vienna for nine years. He continued his career in Germany as a special commissioner to the management board of Deutsche Telekom, where he was charge of implementing the successful restructuring programme. He later joined T-Mobile Germany to work as the spokesperson of the board. Georg Pölzl was appointed to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Austrian Post in October 2009.
