Nippon Otis will deliver 10 elevators and one escalator to the Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 building renovation project

Nippon Otis Elevator Company has been selected to install 10 elevators and one escalator, including eight Spec Eco elevators, as part of the Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 building renovation project. Nippon Otis Elevator Companyis the Japanese subsidiary of Otis Worldwide Corporation(NYSE: OTIS), the world's leading company for elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation, and service.

Opened in 1994, Kansai International Airport is one of Japan's leading 24-hour operational maritime airports with a network of domestic and international flights. The renovation of the Terminal 1 building at Kansai International Airport is to expand the airport's international flight capacity and improve the passenger experience as the airport prepares for the Osaka-Kansai Expo to be held in 2025.

"We are honored to contribute to the further development and expansion of Kansai International Airport, the international gateway to Japan," said Thibault Lefebure, President, Nippon Otis. "The Spec Eco elevator, which will be installed at Kansai International Airport, utilizes Otis' latest technology. This elevator can be installed in sites where excavation of deep pits is not possible, and a more flexible building design is needed."

Spec Eco elevators are hydraulic elevators that do not require a machine room and require a pit depth of only 150 mm. This is made possible with an advanced hydraulic system that is also eco-friendly. For the Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 project, the decision was made to install the Spec Eco elevators because their shallow pit requirements allow for greater design flexibility within the physical constraints of the building.

Nippon Otis will continue to focus on the development of innovative solutions to meet the various needs of our customers.
