Otis Worldwide : Shenzhen Metro Selects Otis China for New Rail Line Project

Order includes more than 350 IoT-enabled elevators and escalators and expands number of Otis units in city's metro system to more than 1,200.

SHANGHAI, April 13, 2022 - Otis China ("Otis") today announced it has been selected to provide more than 350 escalators and elevators for the new Shenzhen Metro Line 13. The equipment will be connected to Otis ONE™, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based platform for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.

The project builds on more than two decades of cooperation between Shenzhen Metro and Otis and reinforces Shenzhen's growth as a contemporary smart city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

With 16 stations along a 22-kilometer north-south route, the new Line 13 serves the western part of Shenzhen and provides a city-wide express line. Spanning three districts (Nanshan, Baoan and Guangming) and connecting to the border crossing from Hong Kong, Line 13 is an important part of the GBA urban rail transit system.

Elevator operations along Line 13 will be monitored remotely in real-time through the embedded Otis ONE™ digital system. If a potential fault is detected, the system will automatically alert the on-call service engineer, allowing issues to be rectified before they impact passengers. Through the end of 2021, approximately 30% of Otis China's maintenance portfolio is connected with Otis ONE.

Shenzhen Metro has been cooperating with Otis since 2001. There are already more than 950 Otis escalators and elevators on seven metro lines serving the city: namely, lines 1,2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11.
