OVHcloud spoke on June 8 about "engaging in responsible digital" at the Tech4climate event held at the George V in Paris. The event, which aimed to mobilize and inspire the tech ecosystem, addressed the opportunities and limitations of technology to address the climate challenge.

Tristan Vuillier, Program Manager Sustainability at OVHcloud, spoke on the theme of "committing to responsible digital technology" during a round table discussion with Eric Paumerat, CTO of Constellation; Sabine Crespo, Chief of Staff & CSR Ambassador at Hewlett Packard Enterprise France and Renaud Pawlak, R&D in Computer Science and Software Engineering. This round table aimed to present the issues related to terminals, infrastructures and eco-design.

OVHcloud spoke about the issues related to the carbon footprint but also about the need to go further by implementing life cycle analyses with a multi-criteria approach.

Other topics discussed included the preponderant weight of component manufacturing, and the need to extend the lifespan while implementing a reverse supply chain model. This chain allows OVHcloud to disassemble 100% of the servers to be able to test each component in order to repair disks, processors, ram, motherboards or power supplies.

Discussions also took place on the limits of indicators such as PUE or WUE as well as the need to know more about suppliers' methods to be able to measure environmental impacts more accurately.

We are delighted to have participate to Tech4climate, an event that has mobilized a rich and growing ecosystem that is willing to address the challenges of climate change in their entirety.
