TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) _ Owens Corning (OC) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $298 million.

On a per-share basis, the Toledo, Ohio-based company said it had profit of $2.82. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $2.60 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.10 per share.

The construction materials company posted revenue of $2.24 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.97 billion.

Owens Corning shares have increased 22% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 45% in the last 12 months.
