TMK and Sinara Group's Innovation Center recognized as the best green building project

TMK and Sinara Group' R&D facility at Skolkovo won the national 100+ Award in the environmental category. The award ceremony was held as part of the 100+ TechnoBuild international construction forum and exhibition, which took place from October 5 to 7 in Yekaterinburg.

Applicants were shortlisted by relevant construction industry experts recognized in Russia and abroad. TMK's project took the first place in the Best Green Building Project category. The R&D facility building scored the most points on the Green Site and Infrastructure criterion evaluating the building's energy efficiency, water consumption reduction, indoor environment quality as well as transportation and environmental performance.

In 2020, the R&D facility was the first site in Skolkovo and one of the few in Russia to earn a LEED Gold rating, an international green building certificate. TMK and Sinara Group's R&D facility is the 33rd LEED Gold certified building in Russia, with only 32 buildings earning this prestigious recognition before. This same project has also won TMK a top award in the prestigious national competition Environmental Culture. Peace and Concord.

"TMK implements advanced environmental technologies not only in production but also in the construction of new research and office facilities. Starting early in the design process for our own R&D facility, we consistently followed the most advanced environmental standards: the facility was built in strict compliance with the requirements of LEED, an international environmental certification program. The building uses approximately 25% less electricity and 45% less water than similar facilities. Green technologies also offer a significant economic benefit of reducing energy costs by about RUB 3.5 million annually for just a 2% increase in construction budget," said Igor Pyshmintsev, Director for Research Development at TMK and the head of the R&D facility.

TMK's consultant for the green building certification of its R&D facility was HPBS, an international engineering consultancy specializing in accounting for the optimization and offsetting of carbon footprint of companies and products, certification to international green building standards, development of engineering concepts for cities and buildings as well as energy supply strategies for territories.

100+ Awards, a national award in engineering and architecture presented at 100+ TechnoBuild, Russia's largest regional construction forum and exhibition, recognize professionals and companies that made outstanding contributions to the development of engineering and structural solutions in civil engineering, including industrial projects. Since 2014, the event has been bringing together leading construction industry professionals from around the world to share best practices and promising developments for responsible urban development and construction.
