18.04.2022 TMK plants hold the Single Open Day as part of the Professionalitet federal project

Four TMK enterprises held the Single Open Day under the Professionalitet federal program of the Russian Ministry of Education. TMK's Sinarsky (SinTZ), Seversky (STZ) and Volzhsky (VTZ) Pipe Plants and Orsky Machine Building Plant (OMZ) joined the project as partner companies and opened their doors on April 16 to students and applicants of industry-related technical colleges and their parents.

The key focus of the Professionalitet project is to redesign secondary vocational education, introducing an industry-specific approach to talent training and offering funding to help students successfully complete their programs. Grants for setting up educational and production high-tech centers for accelerated training, fitted with modern equipment, were awarded to 70 colleges and technical vocational education institutions.

The project also involves Russia's leading industrial enterprises - potential employers who will be able to co-finance relevant educational programs, act as mentors and offer their sites as training grounds. One of the project's key differentiators is its focus on the practical side of education, with study time reduced to two or three years (depending on the specialization) instead of the usual four years. The project kicks off on September 1, 2022, and will reach about 150,000 students.

The program will enable participating colleges to attract investment in education, build capabilities and offer training that meets the actual needs of the labor market while securing employment for graduates. Financing will come from the federal and regional budgets, as well as from participating companies. TMK will allocate RUB 80 million to the program.

More than 500 students and applicants from industry-related technical colleges (Kamensk-Uralsky Polytechnic College, Polevskoy Multi-Specialized Technical College, Volzhsky Polytechnic College, and Orsk Technical College) visited TMK plants during the Single Open Day. Future specialists and their parents learned about the requirements for enrollment in industry-related colleges and technical vocational education institutions under the program, and had a chance during the tours to see the working conditions at enterprises, take part in workshops and occupational tryouts, and address their questions directly to future employers.

Elena Pozolotina, Vice President for Human Resources - Director of TMK2U Corporate University, said: "TMK considers participation in the Professionalitet federal program as a strategically important step in attracting talent to its enterprises. The new approach to secondary vocational education will make training more flexible, adapted to real-life industrial settings and agile in addressing talent shortages. We believe that this initiative will help bring educational institutions in our regions of operation to a new level and unlock new opportunities for young people to study and build a career in their home towns."
