TMK's R&D facility in the Skolkovo Innovation Center hosts the SPE 2021 international petroleum conference

TMK's R&D facility in the Skolkovo Innovation Center hosted the SPE 2021 Russian Petroleum Technology Conference. The event, which is recognized as one of the most prestigious technology forums in the Russian oil and gas industry, took place from October 12 to 15.

This year's conference was held in a hybrid format: some experts were present in person at TMK's R&D facility, while foreign colleagues presented their achievements and shared experience online. More than 200 major companies from 20 countries took part in the conference.

As the event's partner, TMK co-organized the New Materials: Towards the Future special session together with Gazprom Neft's Science and Technology Center (Gazprom Neft STC). During the session, Evgeny Kharlamov, Head of the Laboratory for Corrosion Protection and Operational Reliability at TMK's R&D facility, and his colleagues discussed the selection and usage specifics of materials and equipment for developing hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves depending on the aggressiveness of the environment and different types of thermal and chemical stimulation. He highlighted the benefits of TMK's unique product, vacuum insulated tubing (VIT), designed to develop the most challenging oil and gas fields and produce highly viscous hydrocarbons.

The Russian Petroleum Technology Conference, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), is SPE's biggest event in the region, annually bringing together upstream professionals from international oil and gas operators and oilfield services companies, suppliers, research institutes, and universities. The scope of the conference covers a wide range of topics in the upstream segment and continues to expand by engaging companies from adjacent sectors, including R&D, IT, etc.
