21.12.2021 TMK teams up with Gazpromneft-Development to build a responsible supply chain

TMK held a meeting with Gazpromneft-Development and Gazpromneft-Snabzhenie to discuss cooperation on ESG (environmental, social and governance) matters.

At the meeting, the parties agreed to actively promote responsible sourcing practices and develop ESG guidelines for suppliers. In the long term, they will adopt a strategy for developing market suppliers that will include a rating system for companies, as well as communications and training programs. In the medium term, ESG excellence is likely to become a key qualifying requirement for joining the supplier list of both companies.

Denis Papin, TMK's Head of ESG, said: "Building responsible supply chains is a global trend that is now being actively adopted in Russia as well. Companies that are currently quite advanced on the sustainability journey are beginning to extend their ESG standards to suppliers. This trend is particularly relevant for oil and gas companies, including Gazprom Neft, and TMK is a leading global producer of pipe and tubular products for the oil and gas industry."

Alexander Uporov, Deputy CEO for Procurement at Gazpromneft-Development, said: "Our companies have similar views regarding the need to embed ESG into the supply chain. We agree that the effective management of environmental, social and economic impacts, as well as corporate governance excellence, should be visible throughout the product life cycle."

Maxim Podguzov, Executive Director for Procurement at Gazpromneft-Snabzhenie, added: "Procurement teams have comprehensive insights into the value chain as they define and control the enterprises' supply chains. Our knowledge, expertise and resource base enable us to identify industry leaders and best practices in sustainability. We see our role in acting as an interface between manufacturers and customers and building a robust environment that fosters their collaboration on this front."
