14.02.2022 TMK manufactures Russia's first mobile hot metal mixer

ETERNO, part of TMK, has pioneered the production of the MP-420 mobile hot metal mixer in Russia. The new high-tech product was custom-made and delivered to EVRAZ United West Siberian Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ ZSMK).

The mixer is 32 meters long and more than four meters high. Weighing in at 330 tonnes, it has a net capacity of 420 tonnes. The mixer is designed to receive molten pig iron from the blast furnace shop, transport it to the pouring area of the BOF shop, temporarily store it, and then discharge it into a hot metal ladle. The mixer is equipped with a tilt drive, which enables control over the movement of the entire unit when pouring molten pig iron, and is supplied together with two railroad flatcars to transport it.

The lead time from engineering and the development of technical documentation to final shipment was two years. Prior to delivery, ETERNO specialists checked the running gear and the process of transporting the mixer by rail and ran stationary tests on the electric motors and gearboxes.

Denis Makienko, Director for Machine-Building Business Development at TMK, said:

"TMK continues to improve its heavy engineering product lineup, including by creating high-tech products under the import substitution program. The launch of the production of a complex solution such as the MP-420 mixer once again demonstrates the high level of expertise offered by the ETERNO team. While working on the project, ETERNO specialists fully adapted the previously developed technical documentation to meet modern standards, consulted seasoned experts and set up a supply chain for relevant components."

TMK ETERNO's portfolio includes several dozen implemented engineering solutions within its new lineup of heavy engineering products. The ETERNO plant has supplied its products for the upgrading of Severstal's the steelmaking operations and the BOF shop at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (part of Mechel Group), as well as retrofitting Novolipetsk Steel (part of NLMK Group) and the Aksu Ferroalloys Plant in Kazakhstan. TMK ETERNO's high-tech products have also been used in the nuclear industry for the construction of Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and Kursk NPP in Russia.
