LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Papa John's International Inc. (PZZA) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $8.3 million.

On a per-share basis, the Louisville, Kentucky-based company said it had net income of 23 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 54 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 59 cents per share.

The pizza chain posted revenue of $510.5 million in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $511.2 million.
