With a population of over 270 million, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, dominate the mortality rate - with cancer showing a rising trend.

The government implemented health insurance system covers more than 80% of the Indonesian population and in the near future, it hopes to reach the entire population. It is currently one of the largest single-payer systems in the world, which has provided hundreds of millions of Indonesians with access to health insurance. This is key to easing the country’s cancer burden by ensuring early screening and diagnosis. This goal is also being aided by the National Cancer Control Program, which aims to increase public awareness and knowledge for the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer in the country along with the adoption of a nationwide cancer registry. The country has 2,000 hospitals, half privately owned and half publicly owned however, healthcare disparities in cancer care are still a major issue in the region.

Headquartered in the capital of Dhaka, the largest city in the country, VisionTech International are a trusted importer and supplier of world-leading medical equipment and devices to hospitals across the country, having significant experience in the sector. Their committed approach to their established customer base in Bangladesh, along with their solid reputation will play an important part of the effective launch of Paxman Scalp Cooling in the region.

The People's Republic of Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, with a population of over 164 million. Around 67 per cent of deaths in Bangladesh are caused by non-communicable disease such as cancer and breast cancer is one of the most common cases of cancer accounting for 8.5% of the total incidences.

There are a total of 22 privately operated cancer centres throughout the country with a further 15 government run cancer care institutions – the most important of these being the National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital (NICRH) located in Dhaka.
