When I think of women who have inspired me in my life, three people come to mind.

My grandmother and mother were strong and independent women and provided a strong support system for my family. Not only for my family but also for the people in our community. They taught me that the power to shape our lives is in our hands.

My high school teacher was an inspiration. She's a great leader, a great mentor, and went the extra mile to make sure her students were successful in their lives. She believed that through learning you gain knowledge.

When I think of what drives me and what motivates me, being a leader in itself is a motivation. As a leader, I believe you have a chance to make a difference in people's lives. I like leading people towards their goals and their successes.

It's in our hands how we shape our lives. All it takes is one step, believing in ourselves, and working hard. Keep going. You will face ups and downs. When there are ups, don't take it for granted and when there are downs, don't get disheartened. Keep going and you'll see how far you've come.

Deepa Hikkalagutti

Deepa received her BE in Information Science at UVCE College Banglore. She joined Paychex in 2009 as a junior developer with NETtime Solutions, now Paychex India. Deepa has since worked as a software engineering manager on the FlexTime solution in India since 2018.
