(Reuters) - Pennon Group plans to double its apprenticeship and graduate schemes to 1,000 spots and offer another 5,000 work placement opportunities by 2030, the British water company said on Wednesday, as it also reported a lower profit on rising costs.
The company said the move was to support "those in our region to live local and prosper," and comes as Britain's tight labour market is driving employers to think up new hiring strategies amid a tightening cost-of-living squeeze on Britons.
