BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Penske Automotive Group Inc. (PAG) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $45.1 million.

The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan-based company said it had profit of 56 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 55 cents per share.

The auto dealership chain posted revenue of $3.65 billion in the period.

Penske shares have decreased slightly more than 7% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped nearly 1% in the last 12 months.
