PRESS-RELEASE

KATKoneft, together with Gazpromneft-Khantos, is developing a new model of multistage hydraulic fracturing

Moscow, November 23, 2020

At the end of May 2020, KATKoneft was determined as a hydraulic fracturing contractor to perform cluster hydraulic fracturing operations at the Gazpromneft-Khantos field as part of pilot projects. After that, a joint working group of specialists from Gazpromneft-Khantos (Customer) and KATKoneft was created for a detailed study of this project across the board.

In November 2020, the Customer, represented by Gazpromneft-Khantos, prepared a row of wells for hydraulic fracturing to perform multi-stage hydraulic fracturing in each of the wells (from 8 to 15 hydraulic fracturing stages in each well). The hydrofrac fleet quickly moved to the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field and commenced the hydraulic fracturing operations.

As a result of the effective joint work of the operating company KATKoneft and Gazpromneft-Khantos (Customer), from November 1 to November 14, 2020, the hydrofrac fleet successfully performed 46 hydraulic fracturing jobs with the injection of 90 tons of proppant per hydraulic fracturing operation. This rate of speed was achieved due to the presence of a water supply well on the cluster pad territory provided by Gazpromneft-Khantos (Customer), as well as the performance of hydraulic fracturing operations in a double shift operating mode of the KATKoneft personnel. The total tonnage of proppant injected into the formation was about 4140 tons, the total volume of fluid used was more than 18,000 m3. Multistage hydraulic fracturing was performed in accordance with work plans and safety requirements in the oil and gas industry.

This strategy to increase the utilisation of hydrofrac fleets will allow both Gazpromneft-Khantos and the oilfield service company KATKoneft to optimize their technological and production processes without losing safety and quality and to achieve the maximum economic effect due to the prompt commissioning of wells during such a difficult and adverse oil market environment in the world.
