SÃO PAULO--Brazilian oil giant Petróleo Brasileiro SA, or Petrobras, said Wednesday it produced slightly more oil in the first quarter compared with the fourth quarter as the company ramped up output for some platforms and added production wells in other fields.

Petrobras pumped an average of 2.796 million barrels of oil equivalent per day during the three months ended in March, an increase of 3.4% from the fourth quarter, and up 1.1% from the first quarter of 2021, according to its quarterly production report.

Commercial production rose 2.4% in the first quarter from the fourth quarter to 2.462 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, an increase of 0.5% from a year earlier.
