Petrofac Ltd. said Monday that it has secured a contract to develop operational procedures for BP PLC's Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project in Mauritania and Senegal for an undisclosed sum.

The provider of services to the energy industry said that the procedures will encompass all offshore operations, including subsea, floating production storage and offloading, and hub, and are centered on minimizing risk and harm to personnel, the plant and the environment.

The Tortue Ahmeyim field is offshore on the border between Mauritania and Senegal, and has estimated resources of 15 trillion cubic feet of gas.

"BP is an important longstanding client and we look forward to supporting them in operating safely and responsibly, in their delivery of the GTA Phase One Project, which is creating a new [liquefied natural gas] hub in Africa," said Senior Vice President of Operations Steve Webber.

Shares at 0856 GMT were up 4.1 pence, or 3.2%, at 133.4 pence.
