Petronas Gas Bhd reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2018. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 1,358,260,000 compared to MYR 1,173,512,000 a year ago. This was contributed mainly by the new revenue stream from RGT Pengerang, where there's a profit by higher revenue from all the other segments. Operating profit was MYR 658,151,000 compared to MYR 558,464,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 632,837,000 compared to MYR 537,131,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to shareholders of the company was MYR 537,075,000 or 25.74 sen basic and diluted per share compared to MYR 425,325,000 or 21.49 sen basic and diluted per share a year ago. Profit after tax also increased by 26% on the back of higher gross profit and lower tax expenses, offset by higher finance costs. EBITDA was MYR 928,954,000 compared to MYR 776,135,000 a year ago. Revenue increased 15.7%, mainly contributed by the groups newliquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Pengerang, Johor, which commenced commercial operations in November 2017 and higher revenue from all segments.

For the six months, the company reported revenue of MYR 2,709,026,000 compared to MYR 2,342,660,000 a year ago Operating profit was MYR 1,317,140,000 compared to MYR 1,131,339,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 1,269,823,000 compared to MYR 1,114,178,000 a year ago. Profit attributable to shareholders of the company was MYR 992,550,000 or 50.16 sen basic and diluted per share compared to MYR 888,560,000 or 44.91 sen basic and diluted per share a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was MYR 1,435,336,000 compared to MYR 1,304,960,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 156,536,000 compared to MYR 752,798,000 a year ago. EBITDA was MYR 1,857,323,000 compared to MYR 1,592,558,000 a year ago. The Group's revenue for the six months period was increased by 15.6% or MYR 366.3 million compared to the corresponding period primarily driven by the Group's new LNG regasification terminal in Pengerang, Johor which commenced commercial operations in November 2017. Profit for the period improved by 17.2% or MYR 153.3 million mainly attributable to higher gross profit from Regasification segment on the back of its new revenue stream and offset by higher finance costs attributable to recognition of previously capitalized interest expenses, following completion of the above regasification terminal.

For the year, the company anticipates CapEx to be in the region of about MYR 1.5 billion. The company would expect the year-to-date effective tax rate to be a good guidance insofar as the actual full year tax rate is concerned. So the company is talking about 18%, 19% range.
