The Baltic Sea has very favourable conditions for the development of offshore wind energy. This is also confirmed by the results of wind tests conducted by the PGE Group. PGE's Offshore Program assumes the construction of 3 wind farms with a total maximum capacity of up to 3.5 GW, 2.5 GW of which by 2030.

The PGE Group relies on the huge wind potential of the Baltic Sea. The offshore energy sector will be the basis for climate neutrality of the PGE Group. Our strategic aspiration is 100% green energy for PGE's Customers in 2050. Thanks to the construction of offshore wind farms, this goal is fully feasible - says Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

The scale of investments in wind farms in the Baltic Sea is enormous, so the main challenge is to build a properly adapted port and extensive onshore industrial and service facilities. Offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea will be built with the participation of Polish entrepreneurs.

The supply chain of energy investments at sea may become the Polish export specialization. PGE's activities are an opportunity to engage Polish manufacturers and suppliers of offshore technologies and to develop the domestic steel and shipbuilding industries. We rely on domestic entrepreneurs and count on their significant contribution to the construction of PGE Group wind farms - adds Wojciech Dąbrowski.

At the conference in Szczecin, President Wojciech Dąbrowski stressed that the development of RES technology in the northern part of Poland requires the development of flexible gas-fuel-based capacities, which will enable balancing of the power system. This is an impulse for investments such as the one carried out by PGE in the Dolna Odra Power Plant, comprising 2 gas and steam units with a capacity of nearly 700 MW each. They will be able to use fuel from the constructed Baltic Pipe gas transmission line and LNG terminal in Świnoujście - thus stimulating the development of industrial infrastructure.
