Phillips 66 (PSX) reported above-normal flaring of gas emissions at its refinery in the Los Angeles area of southern California.

In a statement to the California Emergency Management Agency, the refinery said the incident happened late-afternoon on Tuesday, and said the emissions "contained enough sulfur compounds when combusted in the flares" to be in excess of the allowable 500 pounds.

Phillips has two refinery facilities in the Los Angeles area, one in Carson and the other nearby in Wilmington, that together have a crude capacity of 139,000 barrels a day, according to its website. This incident happened at the Wilmington site.
