Pirelli is ready to get back on the track for the tenth round of the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship season which will be raced on the Spanish Jerez - Angel Nieto track from Friday, September 24th, to Sunday, September 26th, 2021. The Spanish Jerez round returns to the calendar in the fall months of September and October after making a special appearance on the 2019 calendar in June and the 2020 calendar in early August.

After nine racing weekends that gave fans around the world spectacular racing, the chase to the World Championship title in the Superbike class is closer than ever, with Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK / Yamaha YZF R1) on top of the standings with 399 points, just one point ahead of Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR).

Pirelli is satisfied with the work carried outthis year, and in the eighteen years of participation as Sole Supplier of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, for contributing to the competitiveness and spectacle of the Championship, thanks in part to the performance and versatility demonstrated by Pirelli tyres. Since the beginning of its involvement in the production-derived World Championship, Pirelli has been an active partner of the Championship contributing to the identity and peculiarities that have always distinguished it from other motorcycle competitions. Pirelli has applied also to tyres the 'production' bike philosophy of the series, supplying normal standard tyres that could be purchased on the market. Remaining faithful to this philosophy, and understanding the need to continue the technological innovation of tyres in parallel to the ones of racing bikes by offering development solutions throughout the course of the Championship, Pirelli has redefined the new generation of racing tyres used throughout the world. The Jerez circuit has a mixed layoutwith long straights making up 70% of the track and slow turns alternating with fast sections. The final straight, 600 metres long, is 12 metres wide - slightly wider than the rest of the track, where it is 11 metres wide. Turn radius is just as varied as the track layout, ranging from 30 to 116 metres. There are also different slopes, with a maximum lateral gradient of 7.46% coming out of turns 2, 6, and 13, whereas the minimum is 4.70% on turns 4 and 12. A series of fast sweepers, such as turns 4 and 5 and the three successive corners to the right in the last sector, could put the tyres to a hard test, especially the front which needs to give confidence to the rider. The temperature range that the Andalusian city is subject to could also be critical in choosing the ideal solution, so the versatility the tyres are able to offer becomes a relevant factor.

Solutions for the WorldSBK and WorldSSP categories

In the WorldSBK class, riders will have both standard solutions and various development solutions available - some already well known and consolidated as favourites, and others making their debut in Jerez, as the result of the experience gained during the current Superbike Championship and the feedback collected by riders and teams from the start of the season.

The premier class at Jerez will have at its disposal three slick front solutions, two development solutions and one standard range solution. On top of the SC1 development solution A0721, Pirelli makes available to the riders the SC1 development solution in A0674specification. The latter uses the same compound as the SC1 standard solution with a modification in the structure in order to increase the feeling and confidence in corner entry and when at maximum lean angle. The last option for the front is the standard SC1 solution, the protagonist of the Barcelona round on Sunday.

As for the rear options, the SCX development solution in A0557 specifications will be joined by the standard soft SC0 tyre and the development SC0 in A0415 specs, at its debut in Jerez. This combines the structure of the popular SCX A0557 with the compound of the standard SC0, providing greater support in the traction stage, as well as greater consistency of performance over race distance.

The final option for the rear is the Superpole tyre in Y0449 specs which will let the riders do a flying lap in Superpole as they strive for the best possible time to earn a good spot on the starting grid.

As always, in the event of foul weather, the riders will have standard rain and intermediate tyres available, on top of which Pirelli will bring the rear Diablo Rain X1251, presented in Magny-Cours and very appreciated by the riders.

In the WorldSSP600 category, on the other hand, riders will have five dry solutions available, three front and two rear, almost all standard.

For the front, the following solutions will be available to the riders: a soft compound standard SC1, a medium compound standard SC2 (which is more wear-resistant), and a new SC1 development solution in A0460 specs, which compared to the standard solution should improve the feedback in at maximum lean angle and give more support in corner entry. As for the rear, the WorldSSP class riders will have the standardsuper soft SCX compound and standard soft SC0 compound slicks available to them.

In case of rain, the riders of the Supersport class will also have available for the first time the rear development solution X1251, until today only reserved to the riders of the premier class.
