Pirelli & C S p A : For the WorldSBK round in Misano, Pirelli brings new front and rear solutions, whilst the SCX tyre debuts in the WorldSSP class

From Friday 11 to Sunday 12 June, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host the third round of the 2021 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.Pirelli will face the challenge, providing riders with solutions they already know in addition to numerous new tyres, both for the WorldSBK WorldSSP classes.

In WorldSBK, the two new solutions are the rear development SCX inA0557 specification and the front development SC1 in A0508 specification, while in WorldSSP the rear super soft SCX solution, which offers grip compared to the standard SC0 compound, debuts here in Misano.

Misano will also host the inaugural race of the much-anticipated Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup 2021, the single-make Yamaha Championship created to give young riders aged twelve to twenty the opportunity to compete in a professional arena with a race-ready package. Riders of this class will be able to count on Pirelli DIABLO Superbike slick tyres, the same tyres already used successfully in all classes of the Superbike World Championship, (110/70-17 front in SC1 compound and 140/70-17 rear in SC1 compound).

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli,designed in 1969, began to host sporting competitions in 1972 and over the years has been subject to different modernisation works. It currently has a length of 4226 metres, of which 1850 are straight with a finish line of 510 metres, with 10 right-hand and 6 left-hand corners.

In 2015 the circuit was completely resurfaced with a specific asphalt formulation aimed at counteracting the effects of salt and humidity. The rather abrasive asphalt and the high temperatures typical of that area can compromise the precision of the trajectories (holding a line) making it a fairly demanding track for the tyres, especially in the long right-hand corners which require a high mechanical and thermal stress for tyres when the bike is leant over, on the tyre's shoulder.

The solutions for the WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes:

At Misano Adriatico, for the third round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Pirelli comes with 4647 tyres which includes, as usual, both dry as well as intermediate and wet tyres for all classes.

In WorldSBK, riders have available 6 slick race solutions: 3 front and 3 rear. Regarding the front options, Pirelli confirms two of the three solutions used in Aragón and Estoril, which is the standardSC1 in soft compound and the developmentSC1 Z0628 in soft compound. In addition, riders will have available a new development SC1A0508 that features a new softer compound, to maximise grip and front-end feeling, especially during mid-corner phase.

For the rear, riders will have available two standard solutions plus one new option. Also in this round there will be the standardsuper soft SCX and standardsoft SC0 tyres. The third option will be the new development SCX A0557, which uses the same compound as the standard SCX but has a new structure that improves stability and support during acceleration.

In addition to these three racing solutions, Pirelli confirms the qualifyingsuper soft solution in the Y0449 specification, used successfully in Aragon and Estoril, with each rider having access to two tyres.

In the WorldSSP class, riders will be able to choose between five dry solutions, two front and three rear ones. At the front, as in Aragón and Estoril, there will be the standard soft SC1 and the standard medium SC2. At the rear in addition to the standard soft SC0 and the standard medium SC1, there will also be the new standard super soft SCX, which will debut in the World Supersport class at this round.
