Spending on goods and services in Russia added 15.7% y-o-y on January 17-23, 2022, which is close to +16.6% y-o-y seen in December. SberIndex analysts say that a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases has had no major impact on the consumer activity, with deviations only seen in few categories.

Spending soared 10% w-o-w in the Medicines and Healthcare Products category, with the metric jumping to 18.4% y-o-y from 6.6% since last year.

People still spend a lot on hotels in Russia (+28.9% y-o-y). It appears that some Russians have decided to have more vacations or to change their location in Russia amid the COVID-related developments.
