The traditional Ivanov Consumer Confidence Tracker, released quarterly by SberCIB Investment Search, includes a set of questions about Russians' investment activity. According to the study, the proportion of Ivanovs with an online brokerage account has risen to 13% from 10%.

Another 25% noted that they plan to open a brokerage account (two percentage points more than in the last study), which is indicative of a potential increase in retail clients.

Over half the respondents who already have a brokerage account or plan to open one (56% in March 2021 compared to 54% in December 2020) intend to continue investing in the stock market over the next year. The proportion of people who do not plan to continue investing has dropped two percentage points and currently amounts to 15% of respondents.

Among respondents who plan to keep investing, 37% cite excessively low deposit rates as the main reason. The people surveyed also note that it has become more convenient to use online platforms or that they expect high returns from the stock market.

Respondents in the study noted that whether trading is easy or fees are agreeable affects their choice of broker when opening an investment account. Accesstoanalyticalsupportisalsoimportant.
