Sber has topped the 1H21 ranking of the most innovative banks compiled by the Skolkovo Foundation (VEB.RF Group) and Dsight, which considered 20 criteria grouped into three blocks: Innovative Development, Digital Services, and Mobile Applications. The data-driven ranking has used data from open sources for the country's Top 50 banks.

According to the authors of the ranking, top-liners are actively engaged in startup work, support young researchers, invest in promising developments, use tools to adopt innovations, and are ahead of peers to launch new digital services that help bring in more clients and boost customer loyalty.

Innovative Development metrics reflect the work of banks with technology companies, show if there is an innovation department, tools for innovation-related work, and the volume of venture capital investments and M&A deals. Digital Services reflects the availability of online offerings for individuals and businesses, including services for the self-employed, a proprietary biometric solution, a banking app for kids, a chat bot in the mobile application, subscription to music and movies, a smartphone-based POS terminal, and Open AI (open artificial intelligence). Mobile Applications is about the number of installations and the rating of banking applications for individuals.

Alexander Vedyakhin, first deputy chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:

"Our leading position in this ranking is a natural result of the tremendous work on our IT and AI transformation, the digitization of all our solutions and the Sber ecosystem that we have been building for several years. Our clients have always been, is and will be at the heart of this work. Digital technologies are our way to provide millions of individual and corporate clients with the best services on the market while automating and accelerating all processes. It's a telltale sign that the ranking includes not only banking, but also non-financial services that our ecosystem companies provide."
