SberBank Online, Russia's most popular banking app, is migrating to 2GIS geolocation technology (Mobile SDK). The geotracking service's map is already available to SberBank Online's iOS users, with Android devices following suit.

Mobile SDK software lets developers integrate 2GIS solutions into third-party mobile apps. The biggest integration as of yet is a 2GIS map within SberBank Online.

SberBank Online has a monthly audience of 69 million people. Clients with iOS devices can now access 2GIS maps, and it is just the beginning of our partnership. Moving forward, every user will be able to try different 2GIS-based services on SberBank Online, while the popular geolocation service will have access to a new audience. Soon, we will adopt 2GIS technologies across Android devices too.

We started working on Mobile SDK over a year ago. However, before it was released officially, we had integrated it into ecosystem products in a pilot mode, which resulted in a classic win-win situation when we develop the tools our partners need the most, and they give us quick feedback at an early stage. Our product being released inside SberBank Online is a good sign of our meticulous work. Our SDK has been tested by BI.ZONE and recognized as a secure code, which means it can even be used in banking.

CTO, Director of the R&D Department, 2GIS

Ecosystem companies used to utilize different APIs to address their geotracking issues. For instance, Samokat, a grocery delivery service, has used this method to add a map to its application.

Samokat uses 2GIS to work with user addresses during the onboarding. We teamed up with 2GIS in May 2020 to design and integrate maps and geocoding into the app, and it took us two weeks. Map customization and the simplicity of API, which help us create unique experiences for users, are really great.

CPO, Samokat

In addition to the map, ecosystem companies use 2GIS geodata. SberBox and SberPortal plan routes, inform you on the traffic situation, and can tell you where you can have a snack.

The 2GIS map can already be found in Sber's special projects, like the Green Marathon and SberRyadom. The map will become available to all SberBank website users gradually.

2GIS geotechnology is available to companies - Mobile SDK is open for all developers.
