Sber analysts came in first in the Foreigners in Russia contest. Backed by the Moscow Exchange, it was held between December 9, 2020, and June 30, 2021, on invest-idei.ru. Entries were submitted by stock market specialists, professionals from analytical departments of banks and brokerage companies who published investment ideas on securities of foreign issuers traded on the Moscow Exchange. To win the competition, participants had to submit at least five investment ideas and show the highest profitability among other participants.

The contest published 89 trading ideas from 18 participants. Sber won due to five investments ideas with the average yield of 13.07%.

Sber's competition entries suggested investment ideas for the following issuers:

ExxonMobil (profitability at +33.1%) - one of the world's largest vertically-integrated oil and gas producers

Newmont (profitability at +23.6%) - a global leader in gold production, also producing copper, silver, zinc, and lead

Alibaba (profitability at +2%) - a major e-commerce player from China

Chevron (profitability at +10.6%) - a U.S. oil and gas company

Micron (profitability at -5.7%) - one of the world's largest memory chip manufacturers.

MOEX started trading shares issued by foreign companies on August 24, 2020, allowing 174 US blue chips to trade.
