Sber keeps developing an antifraud system to protect clients against phone fraud. Being designed together with MTS and other communications providers, the system is a high-tech solution with an instant data exchange at its heart.

The antifraud platform uniting celcos allows for scam attack detection as they unfold: the system will track a scam call, and the bank will take measures to protect customers before they send money to fraudsters.

The joint efforts of Sber and telecom operators improve customer safety - since the beginning of the year, we have recorded 42% fewer complaints about phone fraud than in the same stretch last year. In 2020, this type of fraud became a national disaster facing millions of Russians holding bank cards. The introduction of several preventive tools has enabled us to turn the tide, helping our clients to protect their money and stay calm. Still, phone fraud rates remain high, and therefore, we continue to work with the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, internal affairs agencies, and lawmakers.

Sber's antifraud system has won gold at this year's Cyber Security Excellence Award for Fraud Prevention. In 2020, it protected Sber clients against fraud and helped them save RUB 57 bn.
