Chisvin's presentation, titled Who Says Data Center Storage Has to Be Inefficient?, takes place Tuesday, April 22, 4:50-5:35 p.m., at DSI, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Santa Clara, Calif.
Data center storage is evolving in ways few could imagine. Storage subsystems are faster and larger, with their interconnections more sophisticated and flexible, and expectations of cloud capability reaching near-mythic levels. However, current data center storage architectures tend to exact penalties in terms of cost, space, power distribution, and cooling. Chisvin's presentation -- within DSI's Storage Architecture Track -- will highlight key industry trends that enable data centers to provide high-performance storage at substantially lower costs and power, and how PCIe can play a critical role in providing fabrics that help achieve such efficiency.
