The Kanin wind farm, located in the Szczecin province, has added 20 MW to the ORLEN Group's renewable energy portfolio. Operating since 2012, the farm was purchased by PKN ORLEN from two foreign investment funds - Stage Capital and Mashav Energia. The acquisition was in line with the ORLEN2030 strategy, which provides for strong development of zero-carbon power generation, both through construction of own capacities and acquisition of already operating assets.

'We are consistently pursuing the development path set out in the ORLEN2030 strategy. In line with the strategic vision, we are expanding our portfolio of zero-carbon generation sources by building our own projects and by acquiring prospective assets. The acquisition of the Kanin onshore wind farm is a part of these activities. We are also keeping up the pace of preparations for the construction of an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, having recently reached another milestone by securing an experienced industry partner for the project. The modern power generation segment will be a very important source of the Group's revenue and a springboard for achieving our long-term goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050,' said Daniel Obajtek, CEO and President of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.

The Kanin wind farm operates within the green certificate support scheme and has contracts in place guaranteeing power offtake until 2027. So far, the farm has been able to produce up to 50 GWh of energy per year. Located near Darłowo, in the business area of Energa Operator, the wind farm consists of eight turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each.

The ORLEN Group has power generation assets with a total capacity of 3.2 GW, of which 552 MW are zero-carbon sources, including 55 renewable energy power plants, mainly across the hydro, solar PV and onshore wind farm segments. The wind power segment comprises seven farms with a total installed capacity of 262 MW. In addition, the ORLEN Group has two cutting-edge CCGT units, located in Płock and Włocławek, as well as the Płock CHP plant - the largest facility of its kind in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. It also has an extensive network of transmission lines with a total length of approximately 200 thousand kilometres, ensuring continuous electricity supply to approximately 3 million customers.

Over the coming decade, the ORLEN Group will spend a total of PLN 47bn on low- and zero-carbon energy generation sources. It will invest primarily in offshore and onshore wind power generation and photovoltaics. By 2030, the ORLEN Group expects to hold a portfolio of renewable energy sources with a combined capacity of 2.5 GW (attributable to the Group's interests).
