POSCO INTERNATIONAL Continues to Practice

Good Corporate Citizenship by Providing Essential Support

to Needy People in Local Community

- It supports disabled artists by donating creative production expense, copyright fees, and support fund for production of speakers

- It is actively providing assistance for people in need, including the immigrated youth of multicultural families, multicultural households, and victims of child abuse

POSCO INTERNATIONAL (President: Joo Si-Bo) recently organized a contribution delivery ceremony at its Songdo headquarters to promote the production of Bluetooth frame speakers containing the artworks of disabled artists.

Attending the event were Sohn Young-Ho, President of the Korea Employment Security Association for the Disabled, Park Chun-Hee, Scholar of the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education, Lee Yoo-Chang, Director of Corporate Citizenship at POSCO INTERNATIONAL, and painters with developmental disabilities.

Approximately 70 speakers, all of which will be painted with works of disabled artists on the surface of colored steel sheet, will be produced with the support fund and donated to schools in Incheon as well as public institutions and organizations serving people with disabilities throughout the country.

This will be a great project providing financial support (covering creative production expense and copyright fees) for the disabled artists on top of promoting their works and serving as an opportunity to raise awareness of Incheon students on people with disabilities.

This initiative is acclaimed to be an excellent example of corporate citizenship, demonstrating a mutually beneficial relationship between the POSCO Group company and the local community. NAPAL, the manufacturer of speakers, provided technological support by adopting the PosART technology from POSCO C&C for the works of the disabled artists.

*PosART: A high-resolution color steel sheet, which is four times the resolution of existing printed steel sheet, created by applying inkjet printing technology to the steel of POSCO C&C.

POSCO INTERNATIONAL has long been providing support for people in need with ceaseless social contribution tailored to meet the needs of the local community. As Incheon has a higher proportion of multicultural families than other areas, POSCO INTERNATIONAL has been providing various support to assist the immigrated youth of multicultural families since 2015, which include helping them to acquire Korean citizenship, learn the Korean language, and receive emotional support.

So far, nine teenagers have obtained the Korean citizenship, and a monthly average of 25 immigrated children from multicultural families are attending the New Dream School, sponsored by the company, of whom 25 have passed TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) so far.

Beginning in 2021, the company has also been working with hospitals in Incheon Metropolitan City to provide medical checkup and cover treatment expenses for victims of child abuse as a means to secure social barriers for safety and healthy growth environments for the children.

The Safe Way Home project, aimed at preventing crime in the local community, is also being developed in conjunction with the Incheon Metropolitan Police, POSCO A&C, and the Incheon Social Welfare Council. The objective of the project is to create a safe way home for the elderly, children, and women by installing preventative facilities in areas prone to potential crime.

"This project has enabled us to put to practice POSCO Group's management philosophy of 'Mutually Growing Corporate Citizen,' which endorses the creation of social value that goes beyond economic profit," said Lee Yoo-Chang, Director of Corporate Citizenship. "We hope to continue to serve as the leader in building sustainable mutual growth together with the local community."
