BitPay, a blockchain payment services company, is partnering with open commerce platform Poynt to integrate its bitcoin and cryptocurrency payments with Poynt's Smart Terminal point-of-sale devices.

By scanning a QR code at checkout, customers can pay with cryptocurrency at more than 100,000 Poynt retailers worldwide, according to a press release.

BitPay supports bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and stablecoins for Poynt's solutions. Poynt recently surpassed $9 billion in gross payment volume in a year period.

"It's a massive growth opportunity for BitPay," Stephen Pair, CEO and co-founder, BitPay, said in the release. "And an important milestone in our now nine-year mission to make payments faster, more secure and less expensive for people and businesses."
