STRONGSVILLE, Ohio, Nov. 24, 2020 -- PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced that it is the exclusive sponsor of the Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF) CREF Collision Cup. Open to the public, the event is a month-long virtual golf fundraiser to support high school and college automotive collision repair programs. Proceeds will go toward tools, equipment and supplies, helping ensure that students get the best technical education possible.

Hosted through an online golfing game, WORLD GOLF TOUR® (WGT®) by TOPGOLF®, the tournament teed off on Friday, Nov. 20 and will run through Sunday, Dec. 20. Golfers can play an unlimited number of rounds of virtual golf during the 30-day event. The Ford Performance Racing School in Tooele, Utah, donated two passes worth $4,000 that will be awarded to the golfer with the best score at the end of the tournament. Since this is a virtual event, no actual golfing skill is required. Golfers can play from the comfort of their homes or any other location with internet access.

While registering at www.collisioneducationfoundation.org (click on the virtual golfer image), golfers can select one of 90 I-CAR volunteer committees around the United States to have 80% of their $25 registration fee reinvested in collision repair programs in that specific market.

Participants will be playing against golfers of all levels, including noted Team Penske race drivers Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin and Tom Maziarz, PPG vice president, automotive refinish, Americas.

'For obvious reasons, this has been an especially difficult year to raise money for charitable organizations,' said Brandon Eckenrode, director of development, CREF. 'We were forced to get creative. WGT by Topgolf provides a unique opportunity to hold a virtual golf fundraiser for an industry that loves golf tournaments. PPG has been one of our strongest supporters over the years, and we thank the company for making this event possible and encouraging auto and golf enthusiasts to join us.'

'This is really a great way to support CREF's efforts, and PPG is proud to be a part of it,' said Tom Wolf, PPG strategic account director, refinish sales, and chair, CREF Board of Trustees. 'We're happy to help get golfers and the general public involved in this effort to ensure that our industry has the resources to develop a high-quality, collision-repair talent pool. While we're limited on how many golfers can attend the annual CREF summer golf fundraiser, this virtual event allows thousands to participate and take pride in knowing that their registration fee will be reinvested in their local technical school.'

The PPG Foundation has supported CREF for more than seven years through the annual PPG Student Scholarship. The scholarship aims to remove the financial barriers high school seniors and college collision students can face as they pursue professions in the collision industry workforce.
