Prologue Brings its Cloud Computing Expertise to Healthcare by Collaborating to MEDUSA, an ITEA European Project

Prologue Group has been selected to participate in the large European research ITEA Project called MEDUSA (MEdical Distributed Utilization of Services & Applications) that focuses on Healthcare. This project, conducted by companies and academia in the Netherlands and France, has been kicked-off last January 2013. It gathers major Industry leaders from both countries (Philips, Bull and Cassidian CyberSecurity...), research institutes (Institut Telecom Paris), technology companies (DOSIsoft, Imstar, Sopheon, Technolution) and well known medical centers (AMC Academic Medical Center University of Amsterdam, Institut Gustave Roussy and Hôpital Pitié- Salpêtrière of Paris).

The goal of MEDUSA is to facilitate remote treatment of patients in critical situation by providing advanced technologies in imaging, collaboration and decision making, and achieving high quality diagnosis, speed and efficiency in treatment, and reduced costs.

The teams will be working around three pillars: advanced imaging systems that can be shared between medical experts and used across wide range of terminals going from mobile devices to workstations; virtual collaborative space between specialists in various fields sharing securely medical patients records, large data and knowledge bases; and medical decision support that help specialists in their diagnosis and treatment.

In this project, Prologue role is to bring its expertise, developed during the last 4 years in Cloud Computing projects (MobiThin, CompatibleOne and CloudPort). Prologue will lead the design and development, with other partners, of the medical collaborative workspace, where rich multimedia information can be shared, in real time and on-demand, across geographically distributed locations (hospitals and any place where treatment is required), the goal being to provide the ideal environment favoring collective intelligence of medical experts.
This know-how will leverage, in particular, two patents on scene compression and collaborative protocol optimization, owned by Prologue and Institut Telecom and Ecole des Mines.
At the end of Medusa project, Prologue will join efforts with its partners to launch the solutions on the market starting in 2016 by deploying first the technologies in the hospitals which are partners in the project, then expand in the rest of Europe.
