MIDLAND, Texas (AP) _ ProPetro Holding Corp. (PUMP) on Tuesday reported a loss of $20.4 million in its first quarter.

The Midland, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 20 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 17 cents per share.

The oilfield services company posted revenue of $161.5 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Twelve analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $167.4 million.

ProPetro shares have risen 40% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $10.36, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
