South African-Dutch investor Prosus is said to have sold its entire stake in Chinese travel group Trip.com.

The value of the transaction, according to South China Morning Post, represents $743 million. Trip.com would not confirm sale to the publication and does not report on it on its own site.

Trip.com is a Far East-based international travel group that includes Skyscanner and Travix. Travix operates internationally with the brands CheapTickets, Vliegwinkel, BudgetAir, Flugladen and Vayama.

The reason for the sale is not known.

Prosus' biggest stake in a Chinese company is its 26 percent in Tencent, publisher of WeChat.

The investor is an offshoot of South African Naspers.
