Cancer Community Festival 2022: KALBE AND ONE ONCO CONNECTED COMMUNITIES WITH THE SOCIETY

PRESS RELEASE No. 050/KFCP-DIR/PR/VIII/22

Jakarta, August6th,2022. PT Kalbe Farma Tbk ("Kalbe") through OneOncohas conducted the 2022 Cancer Community Festival (CCF), which featured several cancer communities and support systems of cancer patients to the public, at August 6th and 7th of 2022 in Mosaic Walk of Kota Kasablanka Mall in Jakarta. The festival was intended to introduce the visions, missions, and programs of each cancer community and support system around Indonesia, as well as educating the society on how to deal with cancer patients.

"Kalbe makes an effort to create an ecosystem of prevention, starting from its core. An effort by Kalbe is to create One Onco as a solution for cancer. The solution itself is not about discussing the sickness itself, but rather the prevention of it," as stated by Vidjongtius, the President Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, during an agenda of the 2022 Cancer Community Festival by Kalbe and OneOnco.

Vidjongtius furtherly explained, "This will be a continuous step instead of a single step, therefore we will hopefully continue to develop One Onco. The ecosystem for other diseases, such as diabetes, will also be established."

The 2022 CCF activities were appreciated by the Head of the Subdirectorate for Cancer and Blood Disorders of the Ministry of Health, dr. Aldrin Nellwan Panca Putra, Sp.Ak, MARS, M.Biomed, M.Kes, SH. He appreciated this beneficial agenda for the society in a public area such as Kota Kasablanka Mall.

"I would like to express my gratitude for Kalbe Farma for facilitating this event, because we could have a chance to meet and educate the people in person in this great moment. We also want to acknowledge the four main strategies in countering the cancer itself," as dr. Aldrin stated.

According to him, the first strategy is to promote health itself so that the people can be educated, be encouraged, and be capable of countering the cancer. The second one is by conducting a special protection, for example the HPV vaccine for cervical cancer (human papillomavirus). The last two strategies involve early detections and standardized treatments.

Linda Agum Gumelar, The Head of the Indonesian Breast Cancer Association, agreed with dr. Aldrin's statement, by explaining about the diminishing process of early detections and other therapies for cancer fighters during the pandemic. She also appreciated and considered that the 2022 CCF by Kalbe and OneOnco was a momentum to educate Indonesian people about cancer.

"The development process of a nation is not only dependant on the government alone, but also through contributions from the society. These communities have a strategic role as a bridge for the government and as a support to your friends. For those who remain healthy, preventive measures must be conducted to prevent them from cancer at later stages," according to Linda.

Linda stated that cancer communities would also have important roles, since they closely listen to suggestions from cancer survivors and other people. Furthermore, these communities could assist the government in providing information, reports, and suggestions to form policies regarding cancer.

The importance of cancer communities' roles among the society caught the attention of Kalbe and One Onco, by conducting various activities such as early detections, education, therapies, and molecular examinations regarding cancer. Therefore, One Onco decided to gather third parties such as communities and regulators.

"We want to encourage the people to obtain good literacies on early detections of cancer, specifically the management of cancer patients. The Cancer Community Festival is an appreciation by One Onco for cancer communities, stakeholders or other support systems that have close relationships with the patients, their families, and those who are close with the patients," as stated by the Leader of One Onco Kalbe, dr. Selvinna M.Biomed.

There were several cancer communities that participated in the 2022 CCF, including the Indonesian Cancer Association, Lovepink, CISC, the Indonesian Smartpink Association, Srikandi, the Yellow Ribbons for Indonesian Children, the Indonesian Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Love n Healthy, and the Indonesian Breast Cancer Association. These communities were backed by several support systems such as One Onco, Nutrican, RSK Dharmais, KalGen, KlikDokter, LoveCare, and many more.

The 2022 CCF also conducted several discussions on mananging the cancer through many themes, such as Early Detections of Colorectal Cancer, Early Detections of Breast Cancer, Early Detections of Prostate Cancer, Early Detections of Cervical Cancer, Nutrients for Cancer Fighters, The Latest Cancer Tests, and other themes that could be beneficial for the society and cancer patients.
