A delegation of United Machinery Group Holding (UMG), headed by CEO Dmitry Strezhnev, paid a working visit to Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK).

The delegation of one of Russia's largest machine-building holdings included the heads of leading UMG enterprises, such as the URAL Automobile Plant, UMG-Professional Procurement, UMG-AGRO and UMG Construction Equipment. The visit was the latest in a series of fruitful meetings held in recent months between the management of MMK and UMG to develop and deepen bilateral cooperation. As such, in June of this year, Victor Rashnikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MMK, met with Dmitry Strezhnev, CEO of UMG, in Moscow. In early July, an MMK delegation, led by CEO Pavel Shilyaev, paid a working visit to the URAL Automobile Plant in Miass, where they not only discussed issues relevant to cooperation, but also visited the company's automotive equipment production sites, where they were able to assess the company's range of modern and promising trucks. During the meeting, the parties also discussed the use of MMK's latest steels in the production of UMG's heavy-duty and road-building machinery.

UMG's reciprocal working trip began on July 27th with a visit to the industrial site of MMK - one of the largest steelmakers. The guests visited the refurbished hot-rolling Mill 2500 at sheet rolling shop No. 4, where a comprehensive reconstruction of this unit was completed last year, and examined thick-sheet Mill 5000 - one of the most powerful units of its type in the world. In addition to this, the delegation visited MMK's oxygen converter shop and sheet rolling shop No. 11, where the state-of-the-art cold-rolling Mill 2000 produces products for the automotive industry. The sightseeing tour ended with a visit to MMK Industrial Park - a unique business development site established by the plant five years ago.

The two companies' management then held discussions about ongoing cooperation, including the supply of rolled steel from MMK to UMG companies. Both parties noted the importance of interaction between all services and departments of the companies in the process of bringing bilateral relations to a new level.

Among the topics of mutual interest that were raised during discussions were high-strength and wear-resistant steels produced by MMK under the MAGSTRONG brand. For UMG companies, a promising area of development is the entry into the market of road vehicles, mainly tipper trucks. In this regard, there are plans to increase production of tipper trucks, which will require high-strength metal. The new MAGSTRONG product line is designed specifically for machine-building companies that produce mine-boring, quarry, road construction, trailer and similar equipment. The use of MAGSTRONG steels enables significant weight reductions and economic benefits.

'We value our successful cooperation with United Machinery Group enterprises, as our long-standing and reliable partners. Moreover, we continue to offer them quality rolled metal products that fully meet the highest requirements for steel products used in the production of modern heavy-duty and road construction equipment,' said Pavel Shilyaev, MMK CEO, following the visit.
