SHAMILA NAIR-BEDOUELLE

The Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences of UNESCO

Dear Dr Guryev,

On behalf of the Director-General of UNESCO, I wish to congratulate PhosAgro and you personally, on the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the company.

This year also marks the tenth anniversary of the UNESCO/PhosAgro Partnership to promote the contribution of science and industry to meet societal needs and protect our environment since it was the International Year of Chemistry 2011 that trigged this Partnership.

During these ten years, UNESCO has worked with PhosAgro through its generous support to the PhosAgro/UNESCO/IUPAC Partnership in Green Chemistry for Life.

Since its launch in 2014, this Partnership in green chemistry resulted in a global brainstorming on promising projects to be designed and carried out by young PhD scientists all over the world, to promote the use of advances in green chemistry to meet societal needs, develop green technologies, counteract pollution of the environment, foster healthcare and improve the quality of everyday life. Over 700 innovative projects have so far been proposed by young scientists and many of them may have been carried out in the scientists' respective universities or research institutes. Forty-one projects from 29 countries in Africa, the Arab States, Asia, Europe and Latin America have received considerable support from the PhosAgro/UNESCO/IUPAC Partnership.

On the international arena, the role being played by PhosAgro in other international collaborations, particularly in the UN Global Compact and the FAO Global Soil Partnership is also well recognized.

UNESCO looks forward to further joint efforts with PhosAgro to foster and harmonize the relationship between science, industry and society and attain the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and it wishes the company many further successful years.

Dear Mr Guryev,

I would like to express my thanks for the dedicated support provided by PhosAgro to the Global Soil Partnership led by FAO.

PhosAgro has supported the work of the Global Soil Partnership since January 2019 through the project Implementation of Sustainable Soil Management through the Soil Doctors programme and the Global Soil Laboratory Network (MTF/GLO/962/PHO).

During the first phase of the project, from January 2019 to July 2021, with a budget of USD 1.2 million, the Global Soil Doctors Programme was launched as a pilot in Bangladesh through training of soil doctors, and development and distribution of soil testing kit. This project has also supported the consolidation of the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN), its regional networks, the Regional Soil Laboratory Networks (RESOLANs), and the advancement of the GLOSOLAN Work plan.

In July 2021, phase II was approved and PhosAgro committed to continue supporting the Global Soil Partnership and agreed to extend the project until 2023 with an additional contribution of USD 1.2 million. The current phase of the project is under implementation, and will expand the Global Soil Doctors programme by organizing trainings in Burkina Faso, Colombia, Gambia, Ghana, Republic of Kazakhstan, Malawi, Mexico and Nigeria. This new phase will also support the organization of the annual meetings of GLOSOLAN and RESOLAN.

On behalf of FAO and the Global Soil Partnership, I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the continued support and engagement of PhosAgro in this very important development activity. We also look forward to continue exploring the other areas of cooperation and mutual interest that FAO and PhosAgro have under discussion.

PIETRO TUNDO

Chairman of the IUPAC Postgraduate Summer Schools on green chemistry and President of the Foundation "Green Sciences for Sustainable Development"

Dear Mr. Guryev,

On behalf of the Foundation "Green Sciences for Sustainable Development" and Chair of IUPAC Interdivisional Committee on Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development, it is a pleasure for me to congratulate you and all employees of PhosAgro on the 20th Anniversary of the Company.

We highly appreciate our cooperation with PhosAgro in terms of the POSTGRADUATE SUMMER SCHOOL ON GREEN CHEMISTRY. The project is designed to support young scientists involved in the development of the innovative technologies in accordance with the principles of green chemistry, which will help solve environmental problems.

Over the years, the company has made an important contribution to the food security of our planet by supplying mineral fertilizers to farmers in over 100 countries of the world.

Achieving all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals is impossible without the participation of business, because it is the private sector that strives for growth and innovation, brings new solutions, helps progress in the social sphere, feeling its responsibility to the community.

Sharing knowledge, expertise and best innovative practices of the chemical industry along with creating education and communication opportunities for young scientists and their elder colleagues creates a reliable ground for the sustainable future of the green chemical industry. We hope that the above collaborations will continue in the future under your guidance.

I congratulate you, dear Mr. Guryev, and the PhosAgro team on the 20-th Anniversary!

JOHN CORISH

Chair of International Scientific Jury of the PhosAgro/UNESCO/IUPAC Green Chemistry for Life Project

Dear Dr. Guryev,

During this year marking the twentieth anniversary of the foundation of PhosAgro, I wish to offer sincere congratulations on the many magnificent and worthy achievements of your company since it commenced operations.

The dedication of company policy in every aspect of its business to the furtherance and attainment of the principles for sustainable development, as now designated by the UN, is an outstanding example of corporate responsibility in the commercial world. It permeates every aspect of PhosAgro's activities from research to production and is clearly manifested in the leadership roles played by the company in international collaborations such as the UN Global Compact and the FAO Global soil partnership. PhosAgro also consistently makes outstanding societal contributions in areas such as staff welfare, education, healthcare including during the current Covid pandemic, in tourism and in sport.

As Treasurer of IUPAC at the time it was my honour to have been associated with the initiation of the joint PhosAgro-UNESCO-IUPAC Green Chemistry for Life programme. One of the international schemes generously funded by PhosAgro, this programme has since 2013 provided grants for green chemistry research projects to more than 40 young scientists from 29 countries drawn from applications from all around the world. Designed to assist outstanding young researchers to launch the initial steps in their independent careers, and based on excellence alone, these awards represent an exemplary instrument to encourage researchers to undertake challenging and worthwhile topics which have often also had local interests. It is a uniquely altruistic programme that will bring universal long-lasting scientific and societal benefits.

With renewed congratulations on the accomplishments of its first twenty years, I wish PhosAgro ever more success in the future!
