Public Joint Stock Uralkali : Uralkali Releases over 41,000 Juvenile Sterlets into the Kama River

Uralkali ecologists have released more than 41,000 juvenile sterlets into the waters of the Kama Reservoir (Perm Region, Russia). The juveniles were raised in a specialized fish farm. The fry were delivered to the place of release in their natural habitat in customized containers.

This activity was supervised by representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Perm Region, the Middle Volga Territorial Administration of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, the Kama-Ural Branch of FSBI Glavrybvod and the Aquaculture Directorate of the Federal Fisheries Agency.

Uralkali seeks to conduct production activities in line with the world's best environmental practices as part of the implementation of the Company's ESG strategy. As a responsible subsoil user, we are careful in our treatment of natural resources. We aim to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment by introducing new technologies and increasing the efficiency of existing production processes.

Uralkali is implementing a substantial set of measures aimed at minimizing the impact on the environment. At the mines, we are increasing the capacity of hydraulic filling complexes for filling mine voids with clay-salt sludge. In 2020, 20.5 million tons of salt waste were laid in the mine voids. The Company's mining administrations have a circulating water supply system, reducing the volume of water intake. The Company implements measures to optimize energy consumption in order to minimize environmental impact as part of the global carbon initiative. We implement actions to compensate for aquatic biological resources on an annual basis, making it possible to preserve the population of valuable fish species.

In the period from 2015 to 2020, Uralkali specialists have released over 409,000 juvenile sterlets and 13,000 juvenile pike into the Kama Reservoir.
