First Stage of Construction of 430-km Transit, Providing Additional Power to Trans-Siberian Railway is Completed in the Krasnoyarsk Region

03/18/2021

Rosseti FGC UES (FGC UES, PJSC) test-operated 220 kV OHTL ('Kamala 1 - Sayanskaya Tyagovaya No.2'). State-of-art solutions -many-sided towers and new generation wire - were used in the construction of 80.74 km long line facility. The total cost of work amounted to RUB 3.26 bn. This is the first sector of a new 220 kV transit line 'Minusinskaya-opornaya-Kamala-1', aimed at the increase of the potential of Krasnoyarsk part of the Railway, as well as development of the region, populated with 2.9 mn people.

Construction of 220 v OHTL 'Minusinskaya-opornaya-Kamala-1' is included into one of the National projects - complex plan for the modernization and increase of the trunk infrastructure. The work is planned to be fully completed before the end of 2021. The terms are synchronized with the reconstruction of the traction substations of Krasnoyarsk railway, performed by the Russian Railways.

Line route 'Kamala 1 - Sayanskaya tyagovaya No.2' is in parallel to the operating 220 kV OHTL, which also powers the railway infrastructure facilities. Usage of the many-sided steel towers allows to increase the reliability of power supplies to consumers. Such constructions are characterized with durability (operation term up to 70 years), are vandal-resistant and have a wind load capacity up to 32 m/s, typical for the climate of Siberian regions. Besides mantling of the multi-sided towers is easier, the occupy less space, which is especially important for the difficult terrain.

New generation wire, having an increased passthrough capacity, strength, resistance to wind loads and icing is mantled for the first time in the long-distance power lines of the Krasnkoyarsk territory along the whole length of OHTL. The line is equipped with a ground wearer with and integrated optical-fiber cable, reducing the risks of entry of the birds into the electrical shock area.
