Rosseti FGC UES completes new energy transit in Primorie to supply power to Trans-Sib and ESPO

04/26/2021

Rosseti FGC UES has energized the aerial transmission line between the 500 kV Dalnevostochnaya and 220 kV Spassk substations, finishing the erection of the 220 kV power transit 'Lesozavodsk - Spassk - Dalnevostochnaya' for a total of 250 km. The cost of work is more than 8.3 bn rubles. The project has improved the reliability of the Primorie power system, bringing up opportunities for further development of the southern areas of the province and raising the throughput of the Trans-Siberian Railway. Additionally, the 'East Siberia - Pacific Ocean' (ESPO) oil pipeline's power supply circuit has been optimized.

Construction of the OHTL is part of one of the national projects - the 2024 Holistic Plan of Upgrade and Expansion of the Trunk Infrastructure. The new transmission line is 212 km long. In addition, a part of the transit after the upgrade became 40 km of the existing OHTL that feeds power for the ESPO's oil pumping station no. 40.

A new 44-km OHTL length has been erected at the final stage from Orekhovo village, where the 500 kV Dalnevostochnaya substation is situated, to Spassk town. Also upgraded was the line until oil pumping station 40, which became part of the route. Six crossings with trunk gas- and oil pipelines were arranged. Relay protections and automated control systems were upgraded at adjacent substations.

In 2020, in the first and second stages of the project, Rosseti FGC UES energized the 220 kV Lesozavodsk - Spassk line 167.7 km long. One of the hardest activities was to erect the 1.5-km special crossing on the River Ussuri with the long-span supports 67 m tall.

The 220 kV switchyards at Spassk and Lesozavodsk substations were expanded for the hooking-up of the new transit line. For continuous smooth voltage maintenance in the network within the specified limits and to reduce losses of active power, a controlled shunt reactor and static capacitor banks for a total of 167 MVAr have been commissioned at the 220 kV Spassk substation.
