Rosseti FGC UES to build new power center in the Astrakhan region to release 340 MW of power of five wind farms

07/14/2021

Rosseti FGC UES has commenced the final stage of construction of the highly automated Zubovka 220 kV substation in the north of the Astrakhan region. This will link the Unified National Power Grid with Izluchnaya, Manlanskaya, Staritskaya, Kholmskaya and Chernoyarskaya windfarms. The company will invest about 3 bn rubles into the project.

The substation will be equipped with two power transformers, 200 MVA each, and with a switchyard and switchgears for 220 kV and 35 kV. Most of the equipment is made in Russia.

The power center will be equipped with state-of-the-art microprocessor-based relay protection systems, automated control and power metering systems, and security CCTV. Data sharing among the substation items - over 10 thousand telemetry signals - will be made in digital form. A hook-up to the existing Yuzhnaya - Cherny Yar 2c 220 kV transmission line will be done.

The windfarm cluster is being erected by the Wind Power Development Fund created by ROSNANO Group and Fortum Co. A total of 81 wind turbines are to be installed.
