Rosseti FGC UES revamping power equipment at Tomsk oil production's key substation

08/12/2021

Rosseti FGC UES (FGC UES, PJSC) has begun revamping the most powerful electricity hub in the Tomsk region - Sovetsko-Sosninskaya 220 kV substation. A new 63 MVA transformer and modern relay protection devices will be installed. This will improve the reliability of power supply to the Sovetskoye and Vakhskoye oil fields by Rosneft, to the head oil pumping station of the Aleksandrovskoye - Tomsk - Anzhero-Sudzhensk oil pipeline by Transneft-Siberia JSC, and to consumers of Strezhevoy town with 40 thousand residents. The project investments will amount to 155 mn rubles. The completion of the work is planned for 2022.

Power from the Sovetsko-Sosninskaya 220 kV substation is supplied by three power autotransformers as well as two transformers intended for converting the voltage level in the network. Five years ago, in 2016, the substation's capacity was raised by 60% (up to 501 MVA) thanks to the replacement of all its autotransformers. Now it is planned to replace one more outdated power transformer with a modern unit without increasing capacity. A new made-in-Russia 63 MVA transformer will be installed.

Also, Russian-made modern microprocessor complexes of relay protection with built-in functions of self-diagnostics and registration of emergency events will be installed here. They will protect the substation equipment from short circuits.

Sovetsko-Sosninskaya 220 kV substation ranks third in the Tomsk region in terms of the installed capacity. It feeds consumers in the region's north, including big oil and gas production and transportation enterprises.
