Upgrades are now complete at Selenduma 220 kV substation that feeds power to the southern areas of Buryatia and central regions of Mongolia. The project has been implemented by Rosseti FGC UES jointly with the System Operator.

At the request of the Mongolian party, modern emergency control equipment was installed at the facility, allowing a 40% increase in the maximum allowable power flow in the Selenduma - Darkhan section, 100 MW up and to 345 MW.

Russian-made equipment was introduced at the substation, which automatically monitors the amount of active power flow to Mongolia in order to prevent overloading and failure of the substation's high-voltage equipment and transmission lines. With the newly installed automation, it is now possible to increase cross-border electricity supplies.

Selenduma 220 kV (138 MVA) substation is a nodal feeding center of Buryatia. Outgoing 220 kV lines "Selenduma - Darkhan" account for about 65% of Russian electricity exports to Mongolia in 2021.
