Qorvo (Nasdaq:QRVO), a leading provider of innovative RF solutions that connect the world, today announced that its acquisition of Decawave, an ultra-wideband (UWB) technology pioneer and provider of UWB solutions for mobile, automotive and IoT applications, has received the Deal of the Year Award from Dublin-based news daily, The Irish Times.

'We are honored to receive this recognition from The Irish Times,' said Eric Creviston, president of Qorvo Mobile Products. 'Ireland's deep talent pools and innovation-rich technology culture fostered a remarkable startup. Acquiring Decawave and integrating its pioneering UWB technologies and R&D expertise has helped Qorvo to expand our product and technology offerings for mobile, automotive, and consumer and industrial IoT markets.'

Acquired by Qorvo in late February, Dublin-based Decawave was founded in 2007 and has deployed more than 8 million chipsets in more than 40 different market verticals - from smartphones to drones. Decawave's Impulse Radio UWB technology allows for position accuracy of a few centimeters, and with extremely low latency. The deal represents one of the largest exits by an Irish technology company to date.

'This award is not only a testament to our investors, but to the promise of our future with Qorvo,' said Ciaran Connell, Decawave co-founder and general manager of Qorvo's UWB team. 'Qorvo's expertise in RF technology and manufacturing scale will allow us to deliver the IR-UWB technology we developed at Decawave to new markets and customers in mobile, automotive and IoT. With Qorvo's support, we have all the resources needed to stay on the cutting edge of the technology we pioneered.'

The other nominees for The Irish Times Deal of the Year Award were Pointy, the Irish tech company acquired in January by Google for a reported $160 million; and Green Reit's $1.5 billion sale to Henderson Park.
