The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority said it is considering whether Qualcomm's planned takeover of Israel-based auto chip maker Autotalks might substantially lessen competition within U.K. markets for goods and services.
The regulator on Friday said it invites comments on the transaction from any interested party ahead of a formal investigation, though it has yet to set a deadline.
The U.S. mobile-phone chip maker agreed in May to buy Autotalks to strengthen its portfolio of Snapdragon chips for auto makers, but didn't disclose financial details.
