Reliance Industries Ltd. and Alphabet Inc.'s Google have jointly developed a smartphone called Jiophone Next that will available in the Indian market in the next three months.

"It will by far be the most affordable smartphone," Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani said, addressing shareholders at the company's annual general meeting on Thursday.

The phone will be launched in India from Sept. 10.

In a video address, Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said both companies have also agreed to collaborate on 5G in India.

Google disclosed plans in July 2020 to invest $4.5 billion for a 7.7% stake in Jio Platforms Ltd., India's largest telecom provider by subscribers. Reliance is Jio's parent company.
